we connected a top university with students eager to become scholars.

When one of Canada's top universities needed to revitalize their online recruiting tools they partnered with Make to bring their strategic, creative and technical expertise to the project.

The University of British Columbia has always had a reputation for excellence, so when we needed to redefine their online recruiting tools we had big shoes to fill. The team at Make approached the project strategically and began by developing a new information architecture which merged three sites with over 1000 pages of content into a new site containing just over 100. We integrated a heavily customized version of UBC’s CLF (Common) which uses geolocation functionality to easily provide students with grades and requirements information. We  also developed a rigorous permissions structure and editorial workflow for UBC within the wordpress framework. Make’s latest efforts were around developing a component based landing page system that can be used on key pages throughout the new site. Most importantly the new site is responsive and mobile friendly which has hugely increased the site’s accessibility for international students. The new site has seen massive jumps in average session duration, pages per visit and especially mobile visits. Most importantly however the years following the site launch have seen a 14% increase in the student recruiting yield.
