When a solar industry leader came to us to redesign their online ordering tools we took the challenge. As with any engineering project, setting up a new solar installation is not always easy, there are a myriad of factors that need to be considered, like your geographic location, building orientation, wind loads snow loads… well you get the idea. Unirac tapped the team at Rival Schools to help them develop an entirely new online ordering tool. One that would simplify the process so that even someone with no background in solar could get everything they need to complete their installation. We worked closely with the team at Unirac to cover all the possible angles and ensure that we developed a bulletproof system. Then we set about honing the user experience to be as simple and streamlined as possible. We combined this with a robust and flexible backend developed on Django, and a frontend that utilized AJAX for fast and fluid API calls and a beautiful HTML5 / CSS3 interface to marry the two. This new online ordering tool drove sales and reduced load on the sales and support staff and has given Unirac a long lasting business tool.
